Creative Gifts for Life’s New Chapters
Life has a funny way of turning the page when we least expect it.
Sometimes a new chapter is exciting—a new home, retirement, a new job, or finally having time to explore something new. Other chapters arrive with uncertainty, loss, illness, or simply the realization that life is changing.
Whatever the reason, I believe a thoughtful gift can say something very simple:
I see you. I’m thinking about you. And I’m here.
That’s why I love creative gifts. A small piece of art, a shared experience, or a few encouraging words can become a meaningful little touchstone as someone moves forward.
Give a Little Art—Obviously My Favorite!
Original artwork or a small print can bring color, personality, and meaning to a new home, office, studio—or simply a favorite corner.
A piece like Possibilities might speak to someone beginning something new, while Trust the Process can be a gentle reminder for those times when we don’t quite know what comes next.
When choosing art, don’t worry about finding the “perfect” piece. Think about the person—the colors they love, what makes them smile, and what message might speak to them.
Give an Experience
Sometimes the best gift isn’t another thing—it’s an experience.
A creative workshop gives someone permission to step away from everyday life for a bit—to play, explore, make a mess, laugh, and reconnect with themselves.
And absolutely NO art experience is necessary!
My workshops are about process, not perfection. They’re a chance to slow down, try something new, and enjoy being creative in a welcoming space.
And as a bonus—you’re giving them something FUN to put on the calendar and look forward to!

When the New Chapter Is a Difficult One
Of course, not every new chapter is one we would choose.
Cancer, treatment, caregiving, loss, and recovery can change life in an instant. I know personally how complicated those chapters can be—and how sometimes the simplest gestures mean the most.
My Cancer Courage Card Deck grew directly from my own cancer experience. I created the artwork and words as a way of getting what was swirling around inside me out of my head and onto paper.
The cards aren’t about telling someone to “stay positive.” They make room for whatever they’re feeling—fear, anger, courage, hope, uncertainty, and even humor.
Sometimes we don’t need someone to fix things.
We just need to know we’re not walking through them alone.
A Gift That Says, “I Thought of You”
Whether it’s artwork, a workshop, an experience, or a few encouraging words, I think the best gifts have one thing in common:
They feel personal.
They say, I noticed you. I thought about you. You matter to me.
And really, isn’t that what a gift is supposed to do?

Or maybe that someone is you.
