Liz - we received your absolutely beautiful and inspiring cards in the mail last night! I was going to start skimming through a couple of cards and coming back to revisit one at a time. Change of course! I couldn’t stop reading them so I got through the whole deck of cards. Amazing!!! The brilliant and often whimsical drawings, the creative visualizations that clearly inspired them, and the simple but powerful messaging has left such a positive impact on me! I can’t wait until Neal takes a peek at them! Thank you SO much!!! Regardless of a diagnosis or not, these are truly life-affirming!

Hi Liz...OMG!!! Just completely BLOWN AWAY!! Your cards are even better than I knew they were going to be!! What a journey, my friend. You should be so very proud of yourself...for walking this journey...for documenting it...and for making these cards that will absolutely help others as they walk their own!! I just went through each and every card...AND... Jill is sitting there engrossed...and reading every word...studying every picture...she is greatly impressed...AND TOUCHED (I can tell!!)

Thank you for being you...for having the courage to share from your soul!!! I am so happy we met...and so happy to receive your cards!!!

Liz (Elizabeth) Carren is an artist who uses her art for healing.

Her cancer diagnosis in 2020 ignited a whole new path for her. Words alone were not what she was looking for to share and explain the cancer experience to her family and friends. She wanted others to see and feel cancer in her artwork. She began creating and writing in a new realm. Creativity and visualizations became the core of the paintings, and she used them to help heal herself. Her work authentically connects with her audience, sharing what makes us vulnerable and human.

WE ALL HAVE MANY FACES, & THINGS CHANGE…

Cancer Changed My Identity

We All Have Many Looks

Some days we feel serious, other days goofy, sometimes sad, and other times we’re full of happiness. We all wear different "masks"—changing our appearance daily with clothing, hats, sunglasses, jewelry, and more. But life feels a little different when your hair falls out because of chemotherapy.

During my journey, I never wanted people to look at me and think, "Oh, she's got cancer," or see pity in their eyes. I was never embarrassed about having cancer. I didn’t care who knew. What I did care about was being treated kindly and with respect, but more than that, I wanted to remain me. I wanted to be me, the person I was in that moment, with or without cancer. I was never just “a cancer patient” — I was always much more than that.
