Life, Art, Myself, and evolutions.
waves
It's true- we all know it - every day is a new day and a chance for growth, evolution, learning, and turning corners- or rounding corners to smooth out the sharp edges.
It could be age, maybe it's the state of the world, or perhaps it's just because of where I am here and now, but I have been doing a lot of hard inner work on growth, perspective, and living. Watching my fantastic father falter, little ones be born and grow, and thinking about what I want to do next, I find my mind very busy. As usual, I turn to art to help me sort it out. I use the process to relax, the meditation act of art and creating to reflect, and the actual piece as a small representation of my present reality.
The above, The Wave, I was taking part in a 21-day Painting Challenge - it was day 16. and water was the lead-in. (https://whitneyfreyastudio.com) The intro spoke about what's on the surface, what we see, what others see, and what exists UNDER the surface. It was to take us into our deeper selves… to investigate what we feel we are meant to explore in our lives.
Since I think about Courage a lot these days as well, my wave is the crashing into the future; what's next - what' pebbles are under the water that I am pulling up from the sands and debris below me? How's the landing, a crash, an ebb tide, or just the gentle in and out of waves and the ocean? I know I need to push forward and have the Courage of a crashing wave to get where I want to go.
